📚 Metrics explained: Views, reach, likes, comments

Metrics help you judge performance instead of going "by gut feeling". For numbers to be truly useful, you need to keep two things in mind: what exactly does the metric measure, and how do you compare it sensibly.

Important upfront: platforms sometimes define metrics differently. That's why comparisons are most reliable within the same platform and within the same format.

Views

If you're wondering why views "count" differently per platform, Platform limitations also helps put things in context.

What does it mean?

Views show how often a piece of content was watched or seen.

How to interpret it

  • High views mean: the content is being distributed or clicked.
  • Low views don't automatically mean "bad content" — sometimes it's just a distribution issue (timing, channel, format).

Typical questions views answer

  • "Which content gets attention at all?"
  • "Which platform/format gives me visibility?"

Reach

What does it mean?

Reach describes how many individual people/accounts the content reached (often "unique").

How to interpret it

  • Reach is helpful for comparing content when views fluctuate heavily.
  • Especially important for formats that are often watched multiple times (video looping).

Typical questions reach answers

  • "How big was the actual visibility?"
  • "Am I reaching new people or just the same ones?" (depending on platform data)

Likes

What does it mean?

Likes are a quick, positive reaction.

How to interpret it

  • Likes are a good "mood indicator".
  • Likes alone aren't everything: a post can have few likes but many saves or shares.

Typical questions likes answer

  • "Which content resonates instantly?"
  • "Which topics are 'likeable' or entertaining?"

Comments

If you want to turn lots of comments directly into tasks, the Inbox is the right companion.

What does it mean?

Comments show active participation.

How to interpret it

  • Comments are often a signal of relevance or discussion value.
  • But: comments can also be negative. Checking the context pays off.

Typical questions comments answer

  • "Which content triggers reactions?"
  • "Which posts get the community moving?"

Saved (saves)

Why are saves especially important in 2026?

Saves are often the strongest "utility" metric: people save content they will need again later or want to watch again. Especially in 2026, saves are often more relevant than likes because platforms increasingly favor content that generates real attention and long-term value.

How to interpret saves

  • High saves usually mean: the content is practical, inspiring, or extremely concrete.
  • Saves are a good indicator of content that works as a series or format.

Typical types of content that generate saves

  • checklists and step-by-step guides
  • "how to" posts and tutorials
  • templates, scripts, examples
  • lists (tools, ideas, mistakes to avoid)

Platform differences (why numbers aren't 1:1 comparable)

If you want to compare cleanly, always use these first in Insights:

  • Platform filter in Insights
  • Selecting a date range
  • Views may be counted differently per platform (e.g. minimum duration vs. brief impression).
  • Reach may be deduplicated differently per platform.
  • Some platforms provide additional video insights (watch time, retention), others don't.

💡 Tip: If you want to decide whether a post was "really good", combine metrics: views/reach (visibility) + comments/saves/shares (quality).


Example: How to read numbers in practice

  • Many views, few comments: hook/distribution is good, but the content sparks little participation.
  • Few views, many comments: highly relevant to a small group — worth distributing better.
  • Many likes, many saves: the content has utility and resonates — a good format for series.
