Platform Filter in Insights

🔎 Platform filter in Insights

The platform filter helps you keep your analysis clean. Because every platform counts metrics differently and has different formats, you should almost always look at Insights platform by platform.

If you're brand new to Insights, start with the Introduction to KNOWYOURCHAT Insights.

Using the platform filter, you'll get to the right answers faster, for example:

  • "Which TikToks actually keep viewers watching?"
  • "Which Instagram Reels get saved?"
  • "Which YouTube Shorts get the most views from the Shorts feed?"

Selecting a platform (step by step)

  1. Open Insights.
  2. Click the button with your connected accounts in the top right.
  3. Select a platform, for example:
    • Instagram
    • Facebook
    • TikTok
    • YouTube
    • LinkedIn
  4. The table now shows only posts and insights from that platform.

If you want to dig deeper afterwards, open the post details — Post details: Overview vs. interaction covers this.

Combining multiple platforms

If you like, you can also select several platforms.

That makes sense if, for example, you:

  • ran one topic across multiple channels
  • want to roughly scan a period before going deeper per platform in the next step

💡 Tip: For real learnings: pick one platform first, then compare by format within that platform.

Typical use cases

If you want to turn learnings directly into new posts, Posting is the right next step.

  • Weekly check: Pick a platform → open the top posts → note down 2 learnings.
  • Format analysis: TikTok only → check audience retention → optimize the hook.
  • Channel comparison (within one platform): Instagram only → evaluate Reels vs. carousels separately.

Common pitfalls

  • "I see fewer posts than expected." The platform filter is usually active. Also check the date range.
  • "The numbers look odd." When you compare across platforms, metrics quickly look "unfair" because definitions (views/reach) differ.
  • "A platform is missing." Then the platform either isn't connected (yet) or there's no data in the selected range.Check the connection first → Adding social media channels. If data is missing despite the connection, see Why is data missing in Insights?.
