Introduction to KNOWYOURCHAT Insights
Introduction to KNOWYOURCHAT Insights
In Insights, you analyze the performance of your social media channels. You get KPIs, trends, and top posts bundled in one place and can derive concrete learnings for your content.
If you'd first like to understand how Home, Calendar, Posts, and Insights complement each other, start with Introduction to the Home area of KNOWYOURCHAT.
How Insights is structured
In Insights you'll find two areas on the left:
- Overview: your performance dashboard with KPIs, trends, activity, and demographics
- Posts: a tabular analysis of individual posts (with filters and sorting)
At the top right, you can also select multiple accounts (e.g. for a comparison).
Overview: KPIs, trends & activity
The Overview gives you the most important metrics at a glance – typically:
- Followers / follower growth
- Impressions
- Engagement or engagement rate
You also see how your performance develops over time.
An important part is your posting activity: you can quickly see how regularly you've posted (e.g. via an activity overview of the past weeks/months) – and put performance spikes into context more easily.
Performance analysis: top posts & metric focus
In the performance analysis, you can see, among other things, your top posts in the selected time range.
You can also switch the focus of the analysis – depending on what you're currently interested in, e.g.:
- Impressions
- Engagement
- Likes
- Comments
That way, you answer questions like "Which posts brought the most reach?" vs. "Which posts triggered the most interaction?" much faster.
Demographics: where is your community located?
In Demographics you'll find (depending on the platform and available data), among other things:
- a map
- top cities
- top countries
This helps you understand where your community is located and which regions respond particularly well.
Posts: analyzing individual posts
In the Posts area, you get a table of your posts – including key metrics (depending on the platform), e.g.:
- Views/impressions
- Likes
- Comments
- Shares
- Reach
- Engagement rate
Here you can quickly compare, sort, and trace the performance of individual posts.
Post details: more context for a post
When you click a post, the post details open.
There you can dig deeper into the analysis – depending on the platform and post (e.g. overview, audience/demographics, interaction). Which tabs and metrics are available depends on the platform and post type.
If you want to understand the logic behind the tabs, continue with Post details: overview vs. interaction.
Filters & time ranges (incl. custom)
Whether Overview or Posts: depending on your needs, you filter by accounts and choose your time range.
Typical time ranges are:
- 7, 30, 90, or 365 days
- or a custom time range (e.g. to analyze campaigns, launches, or test phases specifically)
If you want to narrow down by platform, use the platform filter (details: Platform filter in Insights).
✅ Key takeaway: Insights is your performance compass: you don't just see numbers, you recognize patterns – so you know faster what to repeat and what to do smarter next time.

Frequently asked questions
