π Connecting channels: overview (onboarding vs. settings)
You can connect social media channels either directly during onboarding or later in the settings under "Social Media Accounts". Both paths lead to the same result.
The main difference is timing. During onboarding you complete the setup "properly" in one go. In the settings you can add accounts, switch them, or renew a connection at any time later on.
If you're just getting started, First Steps in KNOWYOURCHAT is also a good starting point (connect channels β invite your team β plan content β use the Inbox).
Where do I find the connection step during onboarding?
During onboarding you are guided step by step through the basic setup. This includes connecting your social media accounts.

- First, sign up for KNOWYOURCHAT.
- After signing up, you are taken directly to the next onboarding step, where you can connect your social media accounts to KNOWYOURCHAT.
- Select the relevant account there.
- You are redirected to the verification page of the respective social media platform.
- If everything works, the channel is ready to use right away.
Where do I find the connection option in the settings?
If you want to change something later, you'll find the connection option in the settings under "Social Media Accounts".

This is typical for:
- connecting additional accounts
- checking existing connections
Which permissions are requested?
When connecting, the platform requests certain permissions. These are necessary so KNOWYOURCHAT can perform actions on your behalf.
In practice, this usually covers:
- publishing (creating/scheduling posts)
- insights (retrieving statistics)
- community features (depending on the platform, e.g. Inbox)
Which features are actually available also depends on the platform itself and its APIs.

If connecting fails or data is missing, check these points first.
- Are you logged into the right workspace and the right account?
- Did you confirm all the permissions?
- Are the tokens/connections still valid?
β Quick start: Connect your account first, then briefly check in the dashboard that "Connected Accounts" looks clean. After that you can post, analyze, and use the Inbox.
