How do I connect a YouTube channel to KNOWYOURCHAT?

▶️ How do I connect a YouTube account to KNOWYOURCHAT?

You can connect YouTube either directly during onboarding or later in Settings under "Social Media Accounts". Once the account is connected, you can publish and use Insights, depending on your permissions.

For a smooth setup, one thing matters most: sign in with the right Google account and confirm the requested permissions. After that, a quick check in the dashboard is worth it.

If you'd like the big picture first (onboarding vs. settings), start here: Connecting channels: overview.

Requirements

Before you start, take a moment to check:

For an overview of what is generally supported, see: Supported platforms.

General YouTube requirements (on the platform side)

  • You have access to the Google account that manages the YouTube channel.
  • You have the necessary permissions for the channel.
  • You know which channel you want to connect, in case there are several.

Requirements in KNOWYOURCHAT

  • You are logged in to the right workspace.
  • You have the appropriate roles/permissions to connect accounts.

Option 1: Connect YouTube during onboarding

During onboarding you automatically reach the step where you add channels. There you select YouTube and go through the login once.

This is how it usually works:

  1. Select YouTube as a channel.
  2. Start the connection process.
  3. Sign in with the right Google account.
  4. Confirm the requested permissions.
  5. Select the YouTube channel you want.
  6. Complete the step.

Option 2: Connect YouTube in Settings

If you want to add YouTube later or connect a different channel, you can do so anytime in Settings.

How to check status and manage accounts there is covered here: How do I manage my social media accounts?.

The flow matches the typical authorization process that many tools use: open Settings, add a channel, confirm the Google login, grant permissions, and then select the channel you want.

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Go to Social Media Accounts.
  3. Click Add account and select YouTube.
  4. Confirm the usage/permission prompt.
  5. Click Authorize (if shown).
  6. Sign in with the right Google account (or confirm it if you are already logged in).
  7. Grant the necessary permissions.
  8. Select the YouTube channel you want and save.

After connecting: a quick check

A quick check right afterwards saves you time later, because you spot potential issues immediately:

If posting or Insights "suddenly" go missing later, it's often due to an expired connection. A reconnect helps in that case. See: ‣.

  • Open the dashboard and check "Connected accounts".
  • If needed, open Community Insights and check whether data is visible.

Common pitfalls

  • Used the wrong Google account.
  • Channel permissions are missing or were not fully confirmed.
  • The channel doesn't show up because it is managed under a different Google account.
  • Data appears with a short delay (sync/platform latency).

Troubleshooting

If something doesn't work as expected after connecting, these checks usually help you narrow down the cause quickly:

  • In Home, check "Connected accounts" to see whether the channel really shows as connected.
  • Make sure you're working in the right workspace.
  • For a fresh connection, wait briefly for the first sync and reload the page.

If it still doesn't work after that, feel free to reach out to us with a short description and a screenshot.

Reconnect / renew token

If posting or Insights suddenly go missing, it's often due to an expired connection. In that case, a reconnect helps.

Quick start: Connect → dashboard check "Connected accounts" → quick data check in Insights.
