How do I connect an Instagram account to KNOWYOURCHAT?
πΈ Connecting an Instagram account
You can connect Instagram either directly during onboarding or later in the settings under "Social Media Accounts". Once the account is connected, you can post, schedule, analyze, and use the Smart Inbox, depending on your permissions.
To make connecting go smoothly, it's worth taking a brief, structured approach: first check the requirements, then connect the account, and afterwards quickly verify that the connection is really active. This way you avoid only noticing during posting or in the Insights that something is still missing.

Requirements
Before you start, you should quickly check:

General Instagram requirements (on the platform side)
- You have access to the Instagram account and can log in.
- The account is correctly linked to Meta, if you need to manage it via Meta permissions.
- You have the necessary admin rights for the associated Meta management (if relevant for your setup).
Requirements in KNOWYOURCHAT
- You are logged into the right Workspace.
- You have the appropriate roles/permissions to connect accounts.
- You can log in to Instagram/Meta with the right user.
Option 1: Connect Instagram during onboarding
During onboarding, you are automatically guided to the step where you connect your channels.
This is how it usually works:
- Select Instagram as a channel.
- Start the connection process.
- Log in to the right Instagram/Meta account.
- Confirm the requested permissions.
- Select the desired account and complete the step.
Option 2: Connect Instagram in the settings
If you want to add or switch Instagram later, you can do that at any time via the settings.

- Open Settings.
- Go to Social Media Accounts.
- Click Add account and select Instagram.
- Log in and confirm the permissions.
- Select the account and save.
After connecting: a quick check
To make sure everything is set up properly:
- Open the settings and check under Workspace -> Social Media Accounts whether your account is connected, or open Home and look for "Connected accounts"
- If you want to post right away, start a test draft in Posts.
Common pitfalls
- Wrong login used (a different Meta account than intended).
- Permissions not fully confirmed.
- Account is connected, but data is still briefly missing (sync/platform latency).
Troubleshooting
If you can't post or don't see any data after connecting, these checks usually help right away:
- Check in Home under "Connected accounts" whether the account is really shown as connected.
- Make sure you're working in the right workspace.
- With a fresh connection, wait briefly for the first sync and reload the page.
