Here you'll find the key terms used in KNOWYOURCHAT, explained briefly and clearly.

Term (A–Z) Definition
Work-through list A working list that shows what's up next (e.g. posts "Waiting for approval"). Often built using filters.
Account A connected social media account or page through which you can publish posts and analyze statistics.
Account filter A filter in the Creator Workbench that lets you see only posts from specific accounts.
Activity log A history showing what happened to a post, for example edits, status changes, or approvals.
Alt text A description of images for accessibility. Not available on every platform or via every API.
Upcoming posts An overview of the next scheduled publications. Helps you quickly see what goes live next and whether there are gaps in your plan.
View (gallery/list/calendar) The way a section is displayed. Depending on the view, you work more visually (gallery), in a structured way (list), or time-based (calendar).
Apps & integrations A settings area where you connect additional tools. Depending on your setup, this can include Canva, for example.
Views How often a post was viewed. The exact counting method depends on the platform.
Delivery How strongly a post was delivered to users by a platform. Often visible through views or reach.
Admin (role) The role with the most permissions. Admins can manage workspaces, change settings, and are usually also responsible for connections/reconnects.
Admin permissions (platform) Permissions on a platform (e.g. Meta) that are often required to connect accounts or use certain features.
Create post The function for creating a new post, either in the Creator Workbench or directly from the Calendar.
Post details The detail view of a post in Community Insights with additional metrics and tabs such as Overview or Engagement.
Post editor The editor in which you create or edit a post, including media, text, labels, and scheduling.
Post status Shows where a post stands in the workflow, for example Draft, Review, Approved, Scheduled, or Published.
Naming scheme (labels) Consistent rules for naming labels (e.g. Format:…, Campaign:…, Prio:…) so filters work reliably.
Best performer A section (e.g. on Home/Dashboard) that shows the currently best-performing post. Serves as a quick signal check for which content is resonating right now.
Boosted post A post promoted with budget. Depending on the platform, additional requirements apply for import/handling.
Call-to-action (CTA) A prompt in the post, for example "Share your opinion" or "Save this for later".
Canva (integration) A connection that lets you use designs from Canva directly in KNOWYOURCHAT for posts, instead of exporting and uploading them manually.
Carousel / multi-image post A post with multiple images or slides. Each platform has different options and limitations.
Community Insights The section for statistics and analyses of published posts across multiple platforms.
Community management Working with comments and messages, for example replying, moderating, and assigning.
Creator (role) The role that creates and edits posts. Creators prepare content and typically submit it for review/approval.
Creator Workbench The workspace for creating, filtering, and processing posts, independent of the calendar date.
Dark ads / dark posts Paid content that doesn't appear in the feed like regular posts. Availability in KNOWYOURCHAT depends on the platform API.
Demographics Audience information such as age, gender, or top countries. Not every platform provides this data.
Direct messages (DMs) Private messages within a platform. Depending on the API, features such as import, starting new messages, or media display may be limited.
Distribution How well a post is delivered. Low views can also be due to distribution, not just the content.
Duet / Stitch Interaction features on TikTok. In KNOWYOURCHAT, you can control whether they are allowed, depending on the platform options.
Engagement An umbrella term for interactions such as likes, comments, shares, and saves.
Engagement rate (ER) A metric that puts interactions in relation to delivery. Helps with fair comparisons within a platform.
Draft The post is not yet final and will not be published until it is scheduled or approved.
Done (Smart Inbox) A status/marker in the Smart Inbox that lets you close a thread. Done threads remain searchable but no longer appear in your open work list.
Settings The area where you configure workspace, organization, and account topics, for example members, social media accounts, or security.
Feed The "main stream" of a platform in which posts are delivered (e.g. Instagram feed, TikTok For You feed).
Filter A selection aid for narrowing down content, for example by account, status, platform, time period, or label.
For You feed (TikTok) The central delivery surface on TikTok. Many views from the For You feed mean: hook and viewer retention are decisive.
Approval The step in which a post is checked and officially confirmed before it is scheduled or published.
Request approval The action that puts a post into the review process so a responsible person can check it.
Approval process The flow from draft through review to approval. Roles and permissions control who can do what.
Gallery view A Workbench view as cards with previews. Good for visual scanning and creative work.
Total watch time The total time people have watched a video. Especially relevant on video platforms.
Saves Shows how often a post was saved. Often a strong signal of usefulness and long-term relevance.
Shares Shows how often a post was shared. Often a strong signal of relevance or usefulness.
Hook The opening of a post (first seconds/first lines) that decides whether people stick around.
Impressions How often a piece of content was displayed. The term is used differently per platform and is not always identical to "views".
Inbox item An entry in the Smart Inbox, for example a comment, a mention, or a message that needs to be handled.
Engagement (tab) A tab in the post details that shows how engagement is composed and how strongly the post performs in relation.
Engagement overview A summary of interactions (e.g. likes, comments, shares, saves) in the post details.
Label AI-generated content Marking that content was created or assisted by AI. Availability depends on platform rules.
Calendar view A view in the social media calendar where posts are displayed by date (month/week/day).
Channel A connected social media channel within a workspace, e.g. Instagram or YouTube.
Campaign A content unit spanning multiple posts, often structured using labels.
KPI Key Performance Indicator. A metric that is particularly important for a goal, e.g. saves, watch time, or comments.
Label A tag you use to structure posts, for example by format, campaign, or priority.
Label filter A filter that lets you see only posts with specific labels in the Workbench or Calendar.
List / list view A Workbench view as a table. Good for working through posts structured by date, status, and labels.
Marketing focus A selected focus within your marketing goals, for example increasing reach, generating leads, or improving visibility.
Marketing goals Specific marketing focus areas that contribute to company goals, e.g. increasing reach, generating leads, or improving visibility.
Milestone A concretely measurable checkpoint that shows whether you're on track with your goals (for example launch, integrations, or customer count by date X).
Organization The settings area for overarching fundamentals such as company goals, marketing goals, and (in preparation) social media strategy.
Platform API The official interface of a platform (e.g. Instagram API). Through APIs, tools like KNOWYOURCHAT can access features and data, but not everything is available.
Platform filter A filter in Community Insights for narrowing statistics down to one network (e.g. TikTok or YouTube).
Platform filter (Smart Inbox) A filter in the Smart Inbox that lets you narrow threads down to one or more platforms for more focused work and fewer context switches.
Post type The type of content, for example Reel, Story, Short, or photo post. Post types affect metrics and features.
Reach How many individual people/accounts have seen a post. The definition and counting method depend on the platform.
Reconnect Reconnecting a channel when permissions have expired or the connection was interrupted.
Reel The video format on Instagram. Reels usually have different metrics and performance patterns than photo posts.
Retention / viewer retention A metric or curve that shows when viewers drop off during videos.
Review The checking step before approval, in which feedback is collected and changes are implemented.
Editor (role) The role that reviews and approves posts. Editors are often responsible for review, quality, and brand conformity.
Roles & permissions Rules that define who can create, approve, schedule, or publish posts.
Shorts The short-form format on YouTube. Shorts often behave differently than classic videos.
Shorts feed A traffic source on YouTube. Many views from the Shorts feed mean: hook and watch time are decisive.
Smart Inbox The central inbox where comments and messages come together so nothing gets overlooked.
Social media calendar The planning view in which posts are visible by date and new posts can also be created via a plus button.
Social media strategy The principles by which you plan and execute social media (target audiences, formats, frequency, roles, success criteria). In KNOWYOURCHAT, this area is still in preparation depending on the rollout stage.
Status (workflow) A step in a post's process, for example Draft → Review → Approved → Scheduled → Published.
Status filter A filter in the Workbench for grouping posts by workflow status (e.g. Draft or Waiting for approval).
Stories The short-lived format on Instagram/Facebook. Which options are possible depends on the platform API.
Strategic priorities Additional topics that are important for the coming months. Helps bundle resources and make decisions traceable.
Token An access key that platforms use for integrations. Tokens can expire and then need to be renewed via reconnect.
Tone (Smart Inbox) A setting for the reply mood in the Smart Inbox. Helps keep replies consistent, e.g. neutral, positive, or negative (de-escalating and clear).
Traffic source Information about where views come from, for example Shorts feed, search, or channel pages. Helps you better assess distribution.
Traffic sources Shows where views come from, for example the Shorts feed or search (especially on YouTube).
Unscheduled posts Posts that don't have a publication date yet and will be scheduled into the calendar later.
Company goals The overarching goals of your company. They set the direction and help align priorities in marketing and content cleanly.
Connected accounts An overview/status of whether your social media channels are connected correctly. Without a valid connection, posting, the Smart Inbox, or Insights may be limited.
Published on The time at which a post went live on the platform.
Viewer (role) A role with read-only permissions. Viewers can see content but typically cannot edit or publish it.
Watch time See "Total watch time". An important video metric, especially for YouTube.
View duration The average or typical time people watch a video. Important for video performance.
Recurring post A post that appears regularly in a similar form (for example a weekly recap or product update). Often handled as a series using labels and scheduling.
Workflow A post's path from draft through review/approval to scheduling and publication.
Workspace A working area in KNOWYOURCHAT. Workspaces bundle accounts, team members, permissions, and content.
Workspace avatar The visual identifier of a workspace. Helps avoid mix-ups when you have multiple workspaces.
Workspace name The name of your workspace. It is shown in the navigation and helps you tell working areas apart.
Time lag (Insights) A note that statistics are not always live immediately and may update later depending on the platform.
Time period (Insights) A filter in Community Insights that sets the analysis period, for example the last 7, 30, 90, or 365 days.
Time period filter A filter in Community Insights that determines which time span is analyzed (e.g. the last 30 days).
Time zone A setting that determines the time zone in which times are displayed in KNOWYOURCHAT. Changing it affects the display, not already scheduled publication dates.
Audience impact Tags or hints about the effect you want to achieve with a target audience (for example "cool", "AI", "credible"). Supports tone and topic selection.
Assignment When a post or inbox item is assigned to a person so it's clear who is responsible.
